I could always identify very closely with this book; because its main character was so like my own father, and its setting a much grander version of the huge houses I lived in during my childhood.
Along with “Writing Home..” and “Baltasar and Blimunda” this represents a high point in my collaboration with Patrick Rayner of BBC Scotland.
